Trip Introduction

Short Classic Everest Base Camp Trek 12 days is an alternative package of Classic Everest Base Camp Trek and follows the norms of Trekking in Nepal. Trekking in the Everest region is always a dream of avid trekkers and adventure lovers; as a result, we have tailored the Short Classic Everest Base Camp Trek 12 days with a universally accepted itinerary, which is Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) friendly. The trek is shorter and safer; also, the EBC Trek cost is more economical than other higher region Everest Base Camp Trek. If you are searching for a budget-friendly and time-friendly trekking package under the EBC Tour, Short Classic 12 days Everest Base Camp Trek is an ideal option for you.

Trekking to the Sagarmatha Base Camp with an overwhelming view of Mt. Everest (8,848m), Pumori, Nangkartshang peak (5,083m), Makalu (8,463m), Lhotse (8,516m), Island peak, (6,189m) and Mt. AmaDablam (6,812m) is absolutely a euphoric experience. Besides the sparkling peaks, the enticing sunrise view of Everest from Kala Patthar summit (5,643m); Tenzing-Hillary trekking trails; traditional villages; ancient monasteries; narrow passes; turquoise lakes; green rolling hills; and view-point of Everest view hotel are the main highlights of the Everest trek. The trails of Short Classic Everest Base Camp Trek trace the ancient Everest Base Camp Trekking route trodden earlier by the first Mountain climbers: Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norge Sherpa.

After a short-scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla on the first day, the trekking trail commences from the gateway of Everest: Lukla; to the base camp of the world’s highest peak: Mt. Everest. The Everest Base Camp Trek distance from Lukla to Everest Base Camp and vice-versa is 130km, which is moderate to, strenuously difficult and requires average physical fitness.

Lukla to Namche Bazar

From Lukla, the trail descends to Cheplung village then ascends to the ridge of Ghat, Phakding, and Monjo. With the pristine view of Mt Khumbila (5,761m),the trail traces through Sagarmatha National Park and heads to Namche, the main tourist hub of Everest Region where all the modern amenities like ATM, Pub, internet, lodges, restaurants are available for trekkers. Everest View Hotel is a renowned hotel for the magnificent vista of snow-capped peaks like Mt. Khumbila(5,761m), Mt. Thamserku(6,623m), Mt. Everest(8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m)and Ama Dablam(6,812m) during our scheduled acclimatization and exploration day at Namche.

Dingboche and Thin Air

As suggested by the altitude health experts, trekkers must adjust the thin air experience before elevating to the higher elevation above 4,500m.The ‘summer valley’ Dingboche is another destination for schedule acclimatization; and Nangkartshang Hill climbing gives additional AMS adjustment and towering mountain view on Imjaste river valley.

The strenuous trail of the EBC Trekking route marches further from Dingboche to last human settlements Lobuche and Gorakshep through Thokla Pass, pastureland, and Thokla Pass enjoying the melodious view of Taboche peak (6,367m), Cholatse peak (6,335m), Awi peak, Lobuche glacier, and Khumbu glacier. Gorakshep is the last human settlement, which leads the trail to EBC (5,364m) and Kala Patthar summit (5,643m).

Last village Gorakshep and Everest Base Camp

The trail from Gorakshep to Everest Base Camp is the most difficult trail in the entire trek due to high altitude, rough terrain, and icy boulders. We reach at the most serene and tranquil place on Earth: Everest Base Camp on the 8th day of the trek. If we trek to EBC in April or in May, we find EBC full of trekkers, mountain climbers and colorful tents as these months are suitable for the Peak Climbing and expedition. The most memorable day of the trek is climbing Kala Patthar summit on next day for Everest Sunrise and 360° Himalayan vista.

Gorakshep to Lukla 3 days possible

Eventually from Gorakshep, the trekking trail descends for 3 days while returning back to Periche, Namche and Lukla enjoying the opportunity to greet ever smiling Sherpa people and soaring Himalayas before taking short 35 min flight to Kathmandu.

I didn't know what to expect from Mountain Mart Treks, as I booked at the last moment, but I was more than pleasantly surprised from their service from the moment I stepped out of the airport, to the moment I boarded my plane. I was met by my guide at the airport, with whom I was to spend the next two weeks trekking. The Kathmandu accommodation was very decent, central, and real 3-stars. What I didn't realize that over the next two weeks, I didn't simply receive a mountain guide (Ram Bhandari), but something like a personal assistant, competent advisor, and a friend, all in one. In comparison to other guides that I saw on the trek, Ram was much more energetic, willing to do 'acclimatization' treks, which proved to be key for acclimatization process; always be on time, whenever he is needed; even cooked for me a couple of times, when the lodge's cooks were not available. As in any company, the best asset are it's employees, so in Mountain Mart's case, I can say that people like Ram, really make for a great company. The company's owner was personally and actively involved in ensuring the quality and the best service to be provided, actively seeking feedback. One thing that is good to keep in mind on these treks is that the lodges and hotels up there function a bit like low-cost

Me and my wife have completed a 12 day (we took the helicopter down/back from Gorak-Shep) trekking expedition to the Everest Base Camp with this company.
We are seasoned travelers, 3-5 international trips/year for 15 years.
The company did an AMAZING,OUTSTANDING job in maintaining communication, organizing and guiding this trip.
The owner, Mr Thapa Dolakh was extremely prompt in answering all questions prior to the trip.
The price is comparable to other trekking Nepalese companies BUT some of the “perks” included such as the provision of very large duffel bags and especially providing treated, decontaminated water throughout the ENTIRE trip 😳😳😳 are INVALUABLE in my opinion.

Mr Thapa, was willing (if we were in a pinch) to exchange a small dollar amount at a MUCH better rate then any other money exchange venue. He is an extremely alert, customer service oriented, accommodating and flexible individual that can and is willing to change/re-do an itinerary for the customer’s best interest !!
He made sure that we got our Covid test at a local hospital prior to departure and had a city tour with transportation to the airport at the conclusion of our trip.

Our porter, Dev, a very strong individual, was extremely nice, pleasant and ALWAYS willing to help us during some difficult/dangerous parts of the trek. He carried an extra duffel bag (we brought too much stuff with us).

Our guide, Tilak, a very, very very kind and seasoned professional was absolutely amazing !! Good organizer, explaining every aspect of the itinerary, ALWAYS, ALWAYS willing to help me during the difficult parts of the trek, carrying our water bottles, making sure that we had enough water and we drank enough and were taking our Diamox pills if needed.

Altogether, we were very impressed and grateful for the service we received from this company.

I made it to Everest Base Camp and loved the entire trip. Mountain Mart played a pivotal role in making this such a great adventure. The guides they found for us made all the difference in the world.
Our guide, Makar Tamang, is remarkable! I can tell he knew what makes a great adventure even better. He knew every mountain and its specifications, he knew all the local culture and customs and explained them so clearly, he knew what to suggest and what to avoid, he completely understands customer service, his English was amazing, he knew all the right people to get the special orders or service, and he knew the little extras that made it special. Most impressive is who he is, Makar is kind, patient, humble, helpful, FUN, bright, eager, careful, encouraging, and consistent.
Gorka Tamang, our assistant guide was always out front keeping the perfect pace and making sure we were safe and enjoyed the journey. Both the guides and my son had a blast together laughing, singing, sharing and playing around.
There is no way to perfectly describe the views you will see on this journey from the lush green and magical waterfalls of the lower section to the powerful majestic views of the mountains and vistas of the upper section.
This trip will change your life and this country and its people will steal a piece of your soul.
Thank you Dolakh for organizing such a wonderful adventure!

Everest Base Camp - 12 days trek
My girlfriend and I had the Everest Base Camp (EBC) - 12 days trek on our bucket list for awhile and had a difficult time deciding which company to use. We emailed a handful of trekking companies and Mountain Mart were the first to respond. They answered all our questions in a timely manner.

A day before our trek, we had a debrief at the office in Kathmandu. They explained the itinerary, broken day by day - offered any gear we might’ve needed and did not bring (e.g. trekking poles and sleeping bags). They provided duffel bags to be carried by the porters throughout the trek. The duffel bag should include clothes needed for duration of the trek. Thus, your trekking backpack (about 42L) is not needed. However, your day bag (about 20L) is highly recommended. The day bag should hold your essentials during the day such as camera, medicine, water bottles, etc. We also met our awesome trek guide, Nabin.

Throughout our trek, Nabin was super attentive and accommodating. He consistently checked up on us to make sure we didn’t develop acute mountain sickness (AMS). He also provided complementary fruits everyday after dinner. Nabin didn’t rush us and made sure we’re walking at a comfortable pace. Every night after dinner, he would check our heart rate and oxygen level to make sure we weren’t getting sick. If you are fortunate enough to have Nabin as your trek guide, ask him about his life story and his perspective on the Nepali culture.

I highly recommend Mountain Mart and Nabin for your EBC trek. We plan to do the Gokyo trek in the near future and will definitely use this company again.

P.S. we booked our trip online in our home country, USA. We paid 20% deposit online and the remaining balance in person.

Overall I am very impressed with MMT. The CEO Dolakh was very helpful prior to the trip and once I arrived in Kathmandu everything was taken care of. I was met at the airport, taken to my hotel and taken on an informative city tour. On the trek itself I can't even begin to explain how wonderful my guide Bhoj was. He also took care of everything. He was extremely kind, very very patient, helpful when I was feeling ill, knowledgeable about the area and terrain and was always enthusiastic and cheerful. On the last day of the trek I felt like giving up but he kept my spirits up and even carried my backpack for me. Our porter Chandra was also a hero, carrying all that luggage, always with a smile on his face. I would definately trek with Bhoj at MMT again.

I had the pleasure of taking the 12 day trek to Everest Base Camp, and I'm so grateful we were with Tilak and the Mountain Mart team. For not being a very experienced outdoorsman, this trip sure made me feel safe, challenged, and also like an absolute rockstar, and that is due to our amazing guide, Tilak. He was incredible knowledgeable, very fun, and directed us every step of the way. He allowed us to go at our pace (which was rather quick), and taught us so much about the surrounding area. Every night we were setup with great lodging, food, and items we needed to be successful.

I've already told a number of my friends about this trip and Mountain Mart, so if you are looking to go to Base Camp, look no further than Tilak and Mountain Mart!

12 Day Everest Base Camp-From start to finish this trek has been AHHH-MAZING! I chose Mountain Mart because of the reviews on Trip Advisor and after several hours of research on each company I was considering. I was looking for a heli-trek that had at least 2 acclimatization days, was short, and fit into my schedule. I emailed several companies and Dolakh responded quickly! I began to really trust Dolakh through our email conversations and wanted trek with Mountain Mart!

I ended up not doing the heli-trek because I was trying to get on a trek with other participants. The trek that fit in best with my schedule ended up not having anyone else registered for the trip, but Dolakh assured me I would be fine on my own.

I met Nabin, my guide, the day before we set off for the trek. He kindly looked through the gear I was planning to take and offered advice. Nabin has about 7 years of trekking and instantly made me feel at ease. It never occurred to me that Nabin would be everything from my porter, my Nepali trekking medical expert, my server, and my guide. He did it all! With a smile and a cheery disposition. Each evening Nabin thoroughly would explain the schedule for the next day with me. He would give me advice on how to dress properly for the upcoming weather and terrain. He ALWAYS made sure I understood the details and was patient with any questions I had. Nabin is funny and entertaining, but takes his responsibility as the trip guide very seriously. I literally trusted him with my life! Nabin is an amazing professional and I enjoyed my 12 days following him IMMENSELY! What a joy it was to share this experience with my friend and guide Nabin!!!

This trek was so incredibly beautiful! It was definitely challenging but so rewarding. Our guide Tilak was so good! He took such good care of us and made sure our entire trek was stress free. He let us set our own pace and he gave us helpful suggestions when needed. This really allowed us to just enjoy the entire trek. And Tilak was so knowledgeable about the entire area and we learned so much from him. I would definitely recommend using Mountain Mart for anyone wanting a stress free trekking expedition through the Himalayas. I know I will for any of my future treks. Thanks Tilak and Mountain Mart for the great experience!

Just come back from completing the 12 day Everest Base Camp trek with Makar from Mountian Mart, it was amazing! The whole trip from start to finish was great, Makar took care of absolutely everything and was a great support and guide. I couldn’t recommend Makar enough - he was brilliant and went above and beyond! If your planning on doing any trek through Nepal, I’d recommend requesting Makar! The trek itself was harder than I though, however, very doable at a slow pace. Advice to anyone planning a trek, make sure you take good quality high wicking socks and clothes - they make all the difference after wearing them for 3+ days!

Incredible EBC 12-day trek
Just completed the 12-day EBC trek, what an absolutely incredible and unique experience exploring the Himalayas. I trekked alone with my guide and porter Bishal, who went above and beyond to ensure my safety, comfort, and trekking preferences were all met! He made sure I acclimatized well by adjusting to my pace, handled all the logistics when we reached the lodge at the end of every day, and was always proactive to ask if I needed anything.
Booking the trip was an easy and smooth process as well, overall very professional impression from Mountain Mart. Highly recommend for your next Nepal trek!

We hiked to Everest Base Camp and helicoptered back down. As a traveler who always seeks to be with the locals, getting to know our guides Makar and Gorka was possibly my favorite part. They were were humble, happy and knowledgable young men. Makar speaks fantastic english. I didn't do any of the planning, but I was told that moutain mart helped out loads with logistics. Highly recommend Moutain Mart and the Makar/Gorka duo.

Everest Base Camp Trek 12 days

We did a 12 days EBC Trek on October 2021 in a private group of 3. It was a great experience! The trek was perfectly organized, the lodges were good and clean, according to our requests, meals always good and with several options, and we had an amazing team: our guide Bhoj did everything to make us feel at home, he was available 24/7 and took care of all our needs. The assistants, among which Milan, were also nice and super helpful. The team gave us great comfort in challenging times (especially at high altitude, when we were tired and the trek was more difficult). Needless to say, the trek itself was SUPERB! Amazing and varied landscapes, and the emotion to get to EBC was unbelievable!!!! We were impressed by these professionals and loved all local people we met during our stay in Solukhumbu region.
Thanks for making our experience unforgettable! ❤
We definitely recommend Mountain Mart to all people willing to make it to EBC and ti enjoy the Himalaya!

Trip Reviews (14)
