The Classic Everest Base Camp Trekking route traces the traditional trails trodden earlier by the veteran climbers: Sir Edmund Hillary, Tenzing Norge Sherpa, and many others. The Everest Base Camp Trek 14 days explores Khumbu Valley and leads to the base of the world’s highest Mt. Everest offering the majestic view of Khumbu glacier and some snow-capped mountains: Mt. Everest Mt Khumbila, Mt. Thamserku, Lhotse, and AmaDablam. The green lush vegetation on trails, birds’ chirping inside the dense forest, and endangered wild animals en-route while trekking inside the Sagarmatha National Park.
This 14 days EBC Trek package provides airport to airport services with 2 nights 3 star hotel in Kathmandu before and after the trek. A short airstrip 30-40 minutes of scenic flight brings to Lukla: the gateway to the Everest Base Camp. This Kathmandu to Lukla flight is a thrilling experience if you have never flown above the mountains by 15 passenger denier aircraft.
From Lukla, trekking in the Everest Region trail traces the downhill trail through rhododendron forest and lower Sherpa settlements like Cheplung, Ghat, Phakding, Monjo, and Namche, for couple of days before tracing to the higher elevation.
Namche is the most advanced tourism hub in the Everest Region where trekkers can easily acquire all sorts of amenities required for Everest Base Camp Trek. The hub is also a scheduled destination to adjust AMS before marching further to the higher region. On rest day, we arrange a short acclimatizing hike to Everest View hotel: the highest hotel renowned for the perfect vista of Mt. Everest, Mt. Khumbila, Mt. Thamserku, Lhotse, and AmaDablam. During the day, we even explore Khumjung Hillary School, Kunde Hospital and Syangboche airstrip.
Trekking in the higher elevation above 4,500m is always risky due to AMS. Mountain Mart Treks (MMT) schedule another acclimatization day at Dingboche before tracing to the last human settlements Lobuche and Gorakshep. The summer valley Dingboche is the first village above 4,000m where we acclimatize to adjust the thin air in higher elevation. During this day, we hike to NangkarTshang Gompa and Nangkar Tshang peak, with the astonishing mountain view.
The last human settlement Gorakshep is a junction from where the trail leads to Kala Patthar on left and Everest Base Camp on right. The highlights of the trek include a 360° mountain view plus Khumbu glacier and spectacular sunrise view over Everest from Kala Patthar summit. The perfect view of Mt. Everest isn’t perceived from EBC; so, MMT arrange early morning hike to Kala Patthar to witness the breathtaking cerulean landscape. Eventually, the Everest Base Camp trek 14 days itinerary commences and concludes with a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and vice versa respectively.
After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), a representative of MMT cordially welcomes and receives you at the Airport Terminal. Transfer you to a 3-star hotel located Thamel, Kathmandu. You would Visit Mountain Mart Treks office for guide introduction, trip briefing and final trek preparation . Afternoon, stroll around Themel down town.
Overnight in Kathmandu
In the early morning, transfer to TIA airport in our private vehicle for the flight to Lukla. After 35-40 minutes of scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu, the flight lands Lukla airport: a single runway on a cliff. You would be greeted by trek porter and walk to our frenchise Lodge for refreshing and get ready for trek before set off to Phakding. From Lukla, the trail marches ahead through the Pashang Lhamu Sherpa memorial gate and drops down to Thalsaroa, and then to Cheplung. Everest About an hour walk from here, finally reaches Namche: the largest mountain tourist hub in the Everest region.
Acclimatization is mandatory to adjust thin Air and AMS while trekking in the higher elevation. On this day, guide arrange a short hike to the Sherpa settlements in the Khumjung valley. After enjoying the panoramic view from the Everest view hotel, the trekkers who feel exhausted and physically weak can return back to the lodge at Namche. Whereas, the short hike continues to Khumjung and Kunde villages with the physically fit trekkers. Khumjung and Kunde are renowned for Yeti headed monastery, Khumjung Hillary School and Kunde Hillary hospital which were established by Sir Edmund Hillary in the Everest Region. Exploring the Khumjung valley, the hike from Kunde ascends and drops to Syangboche airstrip which offers the picturesque scenery of Namche village from the runway. Eventually, the trail drops down to Namche hotel after the hike. Take rest or you may roam the tourist hub to explore the beautiful Namche bazaar.

It is a challenging and hazardous task to ascend above 4,500m due to low level of oxygen in the higher elevation. Dingboche is the first village above 4,000m; therefore, it is the perfect destination for scheduled acclimatization to adjust AMS. On this day, we hike on the north ridge of Dingboche to visit Nangkar Tshang Gompa and enjoy the awesome view of Mt. Makalu (8,463m/21,204ft), AmaDablam (6,856m/22,493ft), Island peak (6,189m/20,305ft) and Thamserku (6623m/21,729ft). We can also enjoy the Sun at Dingboche in the late evening. Finally, return back to the lodge in the evening and take proper rest for tomorrow’s trek.

Enjoying the fantastic view of countless peaks like Taboche (6,542m), Cholatse (6,440m), Ama Dablam (6,856m), Pumori (7,161m), Khumbutse (6,636) and Lhotse (8,516m), the trail from the ridge crosses Thokla Pass (4,830m/15,846ft) through the moraine glacial formed by Khumbu glacial. Eventually, after crossing the Pass, we walk for about an hour more and reach today’s destination, Lobuche. Overnight, stay at a lodge at Lobuche.
Our dream comes true today as we touch the base of the world’s highest peak, Mt. Everest. We begin our journey in the early morning and trace through narrow mountain gaps and glacial moraine alongside the world’s highest Khumbu glacier. After 3-4 hours of rocky path walk, we reach the last human settlement, Gorakshep. The village is a junction from where the left trail takes to Kala Patthar and the right trail traces to EBC. From Gorakshep, we ascend through the rocky sandpit and boulders for 2-3 hours and finally reach the serene destination of Everest region, Everest Base camp (5,364m). From the base camp, we can witness the panoramic landscape, 360-degree view of Mountains like Nuptse-Lhotse, and Khumbu glacier just above EBC. Enjoy some good moments with your fellow trekkers at EBC. Celebrate the triumph, and share happiness with one another. Eventually, return back to Gorakshep. .

The trail from Lobuche takes an alternative route for few hours and reaches Pheriche. The village has the elementary health camp run under the Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) which provides emergency health service.
After delightful breakfast at Pheriche, we descend to Orso, Somare, and Pangboche retracing the west bank of Imja River. I just completed one of my dreams of going to Everest Base Camp. I was very pleased to go with Mountain Mart trek. The owner, Dolakh was able to answer the many questions we had before our trip via email. He was very accommodating to my specific schedule.
When we arrived in Nepal from the US, and completed immigration and collected our baggage, we were greeted by our guide Lochan. From that moment on, he truly was our “guide” before, during and after the trek. He always made sure all our concerns and needs were addressed throughout the trek.
The company also provided us with a porters. We had the pleasure of having Dawa as our Porter. He carried our duffel bags all the way up and down the trek and all the stops in between. And when he is not helping carrying our bags, he would join us during some of our hikes to assist us during the hike. He also was great to have around to take the “perfect picture”. And at night he would join us at the dinning room to help service us. He also took the time to make us an apple pie dessert.
I was very happy having Lochan and Dawa as our guide and porter. By the end of the trek, they were like my new brothers who helped me achieve my dreams.
I would highly recommend Mountain Mart Treks if you plan an doing the Everest Base Camp.

From the base camp, we can witness the panoramic landscape, 360-degree view of Mountains like Nuptse-Lhotse, and Khumbu glacier just above EBC.
