Threats of Corona Virus in Nepal

Corona Virus is an epidemic airborne disease that was first diagnosed in Wuhan, China, and has been widespread throughout different countries of the world. According to the different news sources, the death toll has reached 427 and more than 20,000 are infected globally till 4th Jan 2020. As the Novel Corona Virus seemed deadly to humans and mammals, the WHO has already declared a global health emergency. The European countries like USA and UK have also imposed the restriction for the travelers from/to China as well as other neighboring countries. The current outbreak of the Corona Virus in China has also alarmed Nepali tourism and visit Nepal 2020 campaign as Nepal had confirmed one Corona Virus-infected patient, a student, returned from Wuhan. The person who was quarantined and diagnosed with Corona Virus is now recovered and discharged declaring out of danger by Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital. So, the Ministry of Tourism, Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), and Ministry of Health have confirmed that there are no threats of Coronavirus in Nepal and is safe to visit in 2020.

**No threats of Coronavirus in Nepal**

Most of the travelers may still doubt Nepal is at the risk of Corona Virus being a neighbor country to China with open borders. But, Nepal Government has adopted high alerts to prevent the entry of Corona Virus-infected patients from Tribhuwan international airport and border transit points. The Nepal Tourism Ministry has issued a directive including screening of the foreign passengers by health professionals at TIA, separate parking areas for the tourists of the virus affected area, compulsory mask for airport employees, the immediate transition of infected tourists to specified hospitals. Nepal is safe from Coronavirus and is safe to travel. Therefore, tourists shouldn’t be panic about any threat of virus while traveling to Nepal. The Government of Nepal has implemented many precautions and safety mechanisms to control Corona Virus and we ensure to all the international trekkers that Nepal is safe to travel. Nepal hasn’t canceled or closed the flight to/from China or any other country yet despite the endemic Coronavirus.
