The outbreak of Corona Virus (COVID-19) from mainland China, since December 2019, has entangled the whole world in its dark web. Until today, almost 117 countries in the world have confirmed the cases of Coronavirus, about 134,828 Coronavirus cases are seen worldwide, and 4,984 deaths have been reported so far. Nepal had also confirmed one case of Corona Virus patient who was diagnosed by the Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious disease hospital and discharged after recovery. The pandemic Coronavirus has become a global threat to humankind as it is spreading aggressively worldwide. After the widespread of Corona Virus, the WHO officially declared a global health emergency and enlisted China along with Nepal and other neighboring countries at high risk. Most of the countries in the world have shut down international flights, public gatherings, school-college, and even sports activities too. With the alarming threat of COVID-19, the humankind, economy sector, and the whole world seem to be falling down. The virus has caused major impacts not only on people, but countries’ economies, businesses, education sectors, sports, tourism, and day to day lifestyles too. Many people have dropped down the idea of traveling and trekking to another country due to the worldwide outbreak of the Corona Virus. Although there is no case of COVID-19 in Nepal, the Government has taken some prompt decision to minimize the alarming threat of Corona Virus. On March 12, the Government of Nepal issued an urgent notice and announced of canceling spring mountaineering expeditions and temporary suspension on arrival visas in Nepal due to Corona Virus for all countries until 30th April. Earlier, the Government had also suspended the on-arrival visa of 8 countries and canceled the #Visit Nepal 2020 Campaign due to ongoing Corona threat. While many countries have locked down the borders and shut down the airports, the Nepal Government hasn’t completely banned on traveling or trekking in Nepal. The foreigners, as well as Nepali, can easily enter into Nepal submitting a swab test PCR health certificate issued a maximum 7 days prior to the arrival date. The tourists and Nepalese who visit Nepal since March 14, 2020, have to stay in self-quarantine or home quarantine for 14 days from the arrival date. So, the people who want to visit Nepal and trek to the Himalayas can apply for a visa from their own native country. In this great despair, stay safe!
