Everest Link Card is a wireless broadband internet service that is manufactured to connect the trekkers with their near and dear ones. In the Himalayas, the Everest Link Card is easily available in the stores and bakeries.
The wireless broadband is comparatively cheaper than WIFIs in the EBC Trail. Trekkers can enjoy the WIFI prepaid cards of 50 MB to 100 MB at variable prices. The price of the package ranges from U$D 2 to U$D 4; it may be cheaper or more expensive than the mentioned price too.
The internet connection in the Everest Region is good in most of the villages. The WIFI connections in the lodges or tea houses sometimes become slow or lost due to a large number of server users. Most of the trekkers have complained about the connection problem in the Everest Region.
Everest Link Card is the wireless prepaid broadband service that seems to be a well-preferred internet service among trekkers, but it also has some drawbacks and low service.
NTC and Ncell 2G – 3G Network is better for the short time internet user. The 2G – 3G doesn’t work continuously for a longer time in the higher elevation.
In today’s world, the internet has played an important role to connect the people of the world. They can easily share their lifestyle, thoughts, etc from one corner to another; so the trekkers also use the internet to share the world about their achievements.
The surveys have shown that the use of internet in EBC Trek is especially for posting their photos on social media like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Viber, etc. Some have been using WIFI to connect with their families and friends.
Use of the internet in EBC Trek is ok if it is used for limited time. Trekkers need to take proper rest after a long walk so it is not a good idea to use the internet for a long time. In most of the lodges, the connection is very slow which makes you regret purchasing the WIFI package.
*If you are planning to carry Laptop in EBC Trek, think before the trek: It may become heavy load during the trek; or the power connection of Laptop may be expensive; even you have to pay for mobile charging too.
