The Everest region is one of the high altitude region in the world. You therefore need to prepare yourself well for your Everest Base Camp Trek. You need to train yourself for high altitude and low oxygen atmosphere walking before you start any high altitude trek routes. These types of training helps you to overcome Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). If you do not have previous experience of 4-8 hours of daily walking in high altitude then we suggest you first hit the gym and consult your trainer first. What accessories do I need to take with me?

There are few accessories that you need to take with yourself during your trekking in Nepal which also includes while trekking in the Everest Base Camp route as well.

  • Sunglasses
  • Warm hat, sun hat and/or bandanna
  • Few pair of extra socks
  • Re-hydration powder and extra prescription medications
  • Wet wipes as required
  • Local change currency for during the trek
  • Sunscreen, lip balm and insect repellent
  • Light weight towel
  • Torchlight, flashlight or headlamp
  • A pair of wool, fleece or gore tex gloves
  • Water bottle - minimum 1 liter capacity
  • Windproof and waterproof jacket and pants
  • Thermals (upper and lower)
  • Extra pair of clothing
  • Extra warm clothing, layered clothing - thermals, during winter (December to March) trek.

I have extra luggage which is not necessary during the trek.

Extra luggage in the EBC trek can make the trek difficult and strenuous. Sometimes you need to hire an extra porter to carry the extra luggage. It is always wise to take decision before the trek than regretting later on. So, leave your luggage at your corporate office if they are not necessary for the trek.
