The EBC Trek is always remembered for the tantalizing view of Mount Everest, the divine beauty of nature, pristine scenery, moderate to strenuous Everest Base Camp trek route. Mountains and Nepal is an unattainable thing for mortals. Nepal is the nation that is blessed with the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest (8848). Possessing 8 out of 14 highest peaks in the world, Nepal is the hotspot for the tourists who love mountaineering, rock climbing, and sightseeing.
Lukla, the gateway to Everest, is the first and foremost destination of EBC trek. Every Everest Base Camp trek commences with a roller-coaster mountain flight from Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu) to Tenzing-Hillary Airport (Lukla) which is the third-highest civilian airport of Nepal. This airport is the point of gossip as everyone will be amazed at how an airport at this elevation can be operated.
Namche is the first tourist hub in the Everest Base Camp Trek route. The tourism hub has numerous lodges, internet cafes, ATMs and special Tibetan market. Sagarmatha National Park, the world’s highest national park, is the main attraction of Namche which is also the natural habitat of various wild species. For the trekkers, Namche is the popular trekking route on EBC trek especially for acclimatization and relaxation before commencing an uphill trial on Everest.
Tengboche, sensational stop on the trail to Everest region Nepal, is hidden in the Khumbu valley and surrounded by the Himalayan range. It takes two days to trek from Lukla to Tengboche. The village offers a glimpse of glowing Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Everest. The village also has the largest Gompa, Tengboche monastery, in the Khumbu region which attracts a large number of tourists from all over the world.
Khumjung village is the largest Sherpa village situated at the foot of sacred peak Khumbila. This valley is surrounded by mountains from all its three sides and has a magnificent view of the mountain range. The main attraction of this village is Hillary school established in 1961 and Kunde Hospital established in 1966 by the greatest mountaineer Sir Edmund Hillary. Khumjung, a green hidden valley in the Himalayas, attracts the tourists by its scenic beauty and ethnic Sherpa culture.
Dingboche, a Sherpa village in the Khumbu region, is another popular station for trekkers and mountain expedition. It has become a mandatory point for the trekkers for the final acclimatization and rests day before marching further in the Everest base camp trek route. The village has cultivable land at the highest altitude as Imja River directly flows in the east of the village. Dingboche is the first village above 4,000m and it is renowned as a summer valley of Everest Region.
Gorakshep, situated at an elevation of 5,164m, is the final destination and last human settlement on the Everest base camp trek route. This place is also known as “dead ravens” because of no sign of vegetation. From this point, it takes 2-3 hours to physically fit people to climb Everest base camp; whereas few trekkers may suffer acute mountain sickness. Gorakshep also provides a platform to ascent Kala Patthar from where one can glimpse spectacular view of sunrise and sunset on Everest.
Kala Patthar, a remarkable landmark in the Himalayas above Gorakshep, provides an impressive close-up view of sunrise and sunset on Everest. Kala Patthar is one of the highlights of Everest view trek for the trekkers who have never seen mountain range so close. Many expeditions and trekkers ascend this summit for the magnificent view of mountains: Everest, Nuptse, Changtse, and Lhotse.
Chola Pass is a mountain pass situated at 5,420m in Himalayan region which is a perfect point for an exciting view of the mountain range and picturesque scenario. Chola Pass is a tough challenge to the bold and aggressive trekkers who love wilderness and adventure in the expedition. The pass is on the Gokyo trail in the Khumbu region which joins Gokyo trek to the east and EBC trek to the west.
Gokyo Lake, the world’s highest freshwater lake in this region, is considered sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists. The most noteworthy remark is the view of wonderful six Gokyo lakes, ice edge, tantalizing mountain range and highest settlement which is like a dream, a magical perfect fantasy of your lifetime.
Gokyo Ri is a peak in the Khumbu region from where one can take a glimpse of the sensational glowing mountain range. From Gokyo Ri, we can get to marvel Ngozumpa glacier, the largest glacier in Nepal. At the base of the Gokyo peak, there is a small human settlement at the highest altitude.
