The number of annual tourist in the region has been limited to 300 from January. Only climbers with permit can trek to Chinese Everest Base Camp(5200m). Other tourists are allowed only up to Rongbuk Monastery at 5000m altitude. The decision was made in order to maintain the ecological conservation in Himalaya. According to authorities, the decision is crucial for deducting pollution in Everest. Large amount of waste were removed during the cleaning campaign last year.
