The day July 27, 2017 is a unique and auspicious day in Hindu community. It is a unique day when 3 Nepal festivals fall under one day. The festivals that fell on the single auspicious day are: Nag Panchami, Janai Purnima and Rishi Panchami. This day is also observed in Kathmandu valley and whole of Nepal as well. The day is marked as a public holiday.

This is a traditional worship of snakes or serpents observed by the Hindus throughout Nepal. The festival is celebrated according to the Hindu calendar. The abode of snakes is believe to be 'Patal lok' and the lowest of them is also called the Naga-lok, or the region of the Nagas, as part of the creation force and their blessings are sought for the welfare of the whole family.

Janai Purnima, also called Rakshya Bandhan is the festival which observes the bond of purity and security. This festival is celebrated by Hindus in Nepal and all over the world. It is a sacred thread festival. The Hindu men, especially the Brahmins and Chettris perform their annual change of "Janai". Others who celebrate this festival put a scared thread around their wrist.

In Nepal special menu for Gunh Punhi (Janai Purnima in Newari) is Kwati. This day is also called Kwati Punhi, where 'Kwati' is a soup of different beans and 'Punhi' means the full moon day.
