Planning your Annapurna Panorama Trek in Nepal requires proper travel insurance, emergency rescue coverage, and smart safety preparation. Also known as the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, this short and scenic Himalayan adventure offers breathtaking sunrise views from Poon Hill (3,210m). Although it is considered an easy to moderate trek, unexpected weather changes, minor injuries, altitude-related issues, or health emergencies can still occur.
For a safe, stress-free, and worry-free trekking experience in the Annapurna region, comprehensive trekking insurance is highly recommended.
Before starting your trek from Kathmandu or Pokhara, make sure your travel insurance policy covers trekking activities up to 4,000 meters. Even though the Annapurna Panorama Trek does not cross extreme high passes, proper insurance protection ensures financial and medical security during your Himalayan journey.
✔️ Trekking coverage up to 4,000 meters
✔️ Emergency helicopter rescue and evacuation
✔️ Medical treatment and hospital expenses
✔️ Trip cancellation or interruption
✔️ Accidental injury and repatriation
✔️ Lost, stolen, or delayed baggage
Without valid trekking insurance, a helicopter evacuation from the Annapurna region may cost between USD 2,000–4,000, depending on weather conditions and location.
The Annapurna Panorama Trek passes through beautiful yet remote hill villages such as Ghorepani, Tadapani, and Ghandruk. While these areas are popular and well-developed, immediate medical facilities may still be limited in case of serious emergencies.
If a trekker experiences:
Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)
Severe dehydration
Injury from slips or falls
Sudden illness
Immediate descent or helicopter evacuation may be necessary.
1. Inform your trekking guide immediately.
2. The trekking agency coordinates with local rescue services and your insurance provider.
3. Helicopter evacuation is arranged from the nearest safe landing zone.
4. Transfer to a hospital in Pokhara or Kathmandu for treatment.

While enjoying the scenic Annapurna Panorama Trek, also known as the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, electricity and battery charging facilities are generally available in most villages along the route. However, services can be limited, slower, and slightly more expensive in higher or more remote areas.
As you trek through beautiful villages like Ghorepani, Tadapani, and Ghandruk, proper power management is essential to stay connected, charge your devices, and capture the breathtaking sunrise from Poon Hill.
The Annapurna Panorama Trek is one of the most developed short treks in Nepal, so electricity access is better compared to remote high-altitude treks.
Hydroelectric power in lower villages
Solar energy systems in higher villages
Occasional generator backup in some lodges
Electricity may not be available 24/7
Charging is usually done in the dining hall
Power outages may occur due to weather or maintenance
Voltage may fluctuate in remote areas
Although the trek reaches a maximum elevation of only 3,210 meters, facilities remain basic and should not be compared to city standards.
Charging fees vary depending on altitude and lodge facilities.
Nayapul / Tikhedhunga / Ulleri: USD 1–2 per device
Ghorepani / Tadapani: USD 2–3 per device
Ghandruk (Upper Village Lodges): USD 2–4 per device
Charges are usually applied separately for:
Mobile phones
Cameras
Power banks
Smartwatches
Laptops (if allowed)
Payment is typically made directly to the teahouse owner.
Most popular villages offer basic connectivity:
Paid Wi-Fi is available in Ghorepani and Ghandruk (speed may be slow)
Nepal Telecom and Ncell networks work in many areas
Signal may weaken in forest sections or deep valleys
Connectivity is sufficient for basic communication but not ideal for heavy streaming or large file uploads.
To avoid inconvenience during your Annapurna Panorama Trek, follow these practical tips:
✔️ Carry a high-capacity power bank (10,000–20,000mAh recommended)
✔️ Bring spare camera batteries
✔️ Use airplane mode to conserve battery
✔️ Lower screen brightness on devices
✔️ Keep electronics warm in cold mornings to protect battery life
✔️ Charge devices whenever electricity is available
Smart planning ensures you won’t miss capturing sunrise Himalayan views.
Electricity on the Annapurna Panorama Trek is basic but reliable in most villages. With proper preparation and backup power, you can comfortably stay connected while enjoying panoramic views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, and Dhaulagiri.
This short and scenic Himalayan trek is perfect for beginners and families, and power management is simple compared to remote high-altitude expeditions.
For a safe, well-organized, and professionally guided Annapurna Panorama Trek, always travel prepared with Mountain Mart Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd.
While booking your Annapurna Panorama Trek (also known as the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek), it is important to understand the personal expenses that are not included in most standard trekking packages. Although this is a short and relatively easy Himalayan trek, daily personal spending may vary depending on your comfort level, lifestyle, and usage of lodge facilities.
The trek passes through beautiful villages such as Ghorepani, Tadapani, and Ghandruk, where goods are transported by porters or mules, slightly increasing prices compared to Pokhara or Kathmandu.
Proper budgeting ensures a smooth, stress-free, and enjoyable Himalayan adventure.
Food is usually included in full-board trekking packages, but drinks and extra beverages are not.
Tea / Coffee: USD 1–3 per cup
Hot Lemon / Ginger Honey Tea: USD 2–4
Bottled Water: USD 1–3 (price increases with altitude)
Soft Drinks: USD 2–4
Beer: USD 4–6
💡 Money-Saving Tip: Carry a reusable water bottle and purification tablets or a water filter to avoid frequent bottled water purchases.
Most teahouses provide electricity and internet services for an additional fee.
Mobile charging: USD 1–3 per device
Power bank charging: USD 2–3
Wi-Fi internet: USD 2–5 (limited speed)
Wi-Fi is available in major villages like Ghorepani and Ghandruk but may be slow or unstable. Charging is usually done in the dining area rather than in rooms.
Comfort facilities are available but come at a small extra cost.
Hot Shower: USD 3–5 per use
Laundry Service (if available): USD 4–8
Extra blankets: Small additional charge in some lodges
As you ascend toward Poon Hill (3,210m), prices may slightly increase due to transportation logistics.
If you enjoy snacks during trekking, it’s better to buy them in Pokhara before starting.
Chocolate / Energy Bars: USD 1–3
Biscuits / Chips: USD 1–2
Toiletries: Higher than city prices
💡 Budget Tip: Purchase snacks and essential supplies in Pokhara to reduce trail expenses.
Tipping is a common and appreciated practice in Nepal’s trekking culture. It directly supports local guides and porters who ensure your safety and comfort.
Guide: USD 8–12 per day (per group basis)
Porter: USD 5–8 per day
The amount depends on service quality and group size.
For the Annapurna Panorama Trek, trekkers should budget approximately:
👉 USD 10–20 per day for personal expenses
👉 Slightly more if consuming alcohol, using Wi-Fi frequently, or taking daily hot showers
Since this is a shorter and lower-altitude trek compared to high mountain passes, personal expenses are generally lower and manageable.
✔️ Carry enough Nepali cash (ATMs are not available on the trekking route)
✔️ Prices increase gradually with altitude
✔️ Avoid unnecessary bottled water purchases
✔️ Plan your personal spending before the trek
✔️ Confirm what is included in your trekking package
Personal expenses on the Annapurna Panorama Trek are reasonable and easy to manage with proper planning. Because supplies are transported manually to mountain villages, prices are slightly higher than in cities.
By budgeting your daily expenses wisely, you can fully enjoy the stunning sunrise from Poon Hill, panoramic views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre, traditional Gurung villages, and peaceful rhododendron forests—without financial surprises.
For a professional, transparent, and well-organized Annapurna Panorama Trek, travel confidently with Mountain Mart Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd.

Reduces physical strain during steep climbs
Conserves your energy for sightseeing and photography

Annapurna Panorama trek
Recently, I had the pleasure of completing the Annapurna Sanctuary trek with my friends. This was quite daunting as it was the first time I had travelled outside of Europe and my first proper trek. Despite these concerns, the trip was a success, and I can owe that completely to the team at Mountain Mart Treks.
Throughout, the company worked hard to ensure the trip was easy and enjoyable for us all, covering travel as well as a tour around Kathmandu and booking brilliant accommodation. The owner of the company, Dholak, also made sure to meet us personally and taking us through every step of the trek and answering any questions we had. A notable example of the lengths Mountain Mart Treks went to help us along the way, is that when two members of my group were having issues with obtaining an Indian Visa, Mountain Mart Treks changed the time of our flight to Pokhara so that they could attend an interview.
The trek was an incredible, once in a lifetime experience. It offered amazing views, delicious food, an insight into a unique culture and a great sense of accomplishment. Despite being difficult at parts, every day was enjoyable and achievable. This ease and enjoyment can be entirely credited to our porters Sujan, Chitra and Thakur (who worked extremely hard and carried the main bulk of our bags the entire trip - around 30-40kg), and especially our guide Ram Bhandari.
Ram has been an exceptional guide, doing everything he could to make our trip enjoyable. Throughout the day, Ram would provide ample rest, resupply water and keep us motivated (thanks to his never-ending supply of chocolate!). Any questions we had on life in the mountains he would answer and offer personal anecdotes to give a nuanced picture of Nepalese life and culture. My favourites being teaching us the meaning of the different mountain names or showing us some of the tasty wild berries available on the various paths. Ram would also offer advice on the best food to have and often head into the kitchen himself to cook some of the best Momo and curries our group had ever had. Even after we had finished tea Ram would offer us fresh fruit, such as bananas, apples, pomegranates and oranges which were all displayed in incredible patterns - another example of the care Ram put into helping us through our trip. Ram made sure we were well fed before starting his own meal. This was a common trend throughout the whole trip, Ram always puts his guests first.
The accommodation along the route was also fantastic. Ram always ensured that the views from the hostels were incredible, offering alternative places to stay if the views there were better. These changes were always discussed as a group beforehand with Ram always making it clear what we would be doing the next day. This included the changes in plans, but it also included wake up times so that we could watch the sunrise as well as planning the timings of lunch and chocolate breaks.
Overall, this trip has been perfect, and I will always remember my time in Nepal fondly. It has been the best holiday I have ever taken, and I seriously recommend others to visit Nepal and embark on a trek. You will not regret it. Of course, if you are to embark on a trek, make sure to use Mountain Mart Treks, and especially ask for Ram Bhandari, he will not fail to make your trip an unforgettable one.

Awesome adventure "Annapurna Panorama trek"
This has been a most memorable trip to Tsum valley and Manuslu circuit with Sudip. I first met him in 2017 on the Annapurna circuit. Sudip was a fun companion on the trip with his Nepalese sense of humour and good wit. He has attention for detail and the trip was a smooth transition during trying times. Sudip had shown care, concern and compassion at all times and the trek was an awesome experience. Many thanks to Sudip who has a passion for trekking and Dolakh of Mountainmart treks for always being available.I plan to continue trekking with then in the future. Thanks again to an awesome experience with many wonderful memories. The service was five start at all time and Sudip English is great.

Annapurna Panorama trek
I completed the Everest base camp trek with a friend on a private trek through mountain mart and couldn’t recommend more. Amazing scenes, accompanied by our guide Makar who went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and safe, as well as informed us on Nepalese culture the vast various mountains we came across. Thoroughly recommend.
Great experience, hotel in Kathmandu was very nice and welcoming. Our guide Nabin was fantastic. Dolakh was great to helped cater to all our needs. Highly recommend.

We were planing to go to Nepal in March. Ram which was the best trekking guide of the trek. He’s nice, warm and patient. He take good care of us. He thought us everything about Nepali culture and answered all the questions we had. He also knew every peak and he always kept us in good mood. He knew all the best lodges in the mountains and whenever it was possible he provided us with a good bedroom and bathroom. Every day after dinner we also got fruit from Ram (which he carried for us up to the mountains) and which other guests didn't have. He was really there for us from beginning till the end. We also need to mention our porter Susan who was really strong and kind, and carried all our stuff to the mountains. We would really recommend Ram to guide you in your trek in Nepal.

We went on Mountain Mart’s Annapurna Panorama trek and added on two nights in Chitwan National Park. Bottom line - the trip was spectacular – everything we could have hoped for. Dolakh was very responsive to our requests and our needs in the planning process. When we arrived at the Everest Boutique Hotel (which is owned by Dolakh/Mountain Mart) we were pleasantly surprised. We expected more “Nepalese” accommodations, but found a newly built, clean, and well-appointed room. The day tour around Kathmandu was informative and allowed us learn about Nepalese religious traditions. The next morning, we opted to take a flight to Pokhara (more on this decision later) for the next leg of the journey. As soon as we got above the clouds, we were treated to our first view of the Himalayas, readying us for more to come. The Lakeside Retreat Resort was clean and comfortable, with an excellent breakfast. With our guide, Ram, we took a long stroll around Pokhara lakeside. Ram prepared us for the trek, answering all of our questions about what to expect. We also started to get to know Ram and learn more about him and his family, as well as Nepalese culture and customs. Unequivocally, Ram was an excellent guide and host throughout our entire journey.
The next morning, we left early for our trek. We chose this 6-day trek for the anticipated views and because it stayed below 10,600 feet (we know we don’t do well at higher elevations). While the daily mileage was shorter than what we had previously done (4 – 11 miles daily), the climbs were challenging. Let me emphasize that – several days had over 3000 feet of elevation gain – and what we didn’t anticipate was how much of it was on steps. We definitely struggled, particularly as our elevation increased. Ram quickly learned about our strengths and weaknesses as hikers. He encouraged us throughout and never pushed us beyond our capabilities. One day, he adjusted our route to take us around a mountain peak rather than over it, knowing that we didn’t mind the extra mileage. It’s worth noting that our feeling of accomplishment is one of the memories we will cherish from this trip.
Thakur, our sherpa, was always ready with a smile on his face and had a few simple English words in his vocabulary. He was consistently ready on time, always the last in our small group to make sure we didn't stray off the trail, and impressed us daily on how he easily maneuvered the same trek but with 40+ lbs of supplies on his back.
Two highlights for us were the sunrise from Poon Hill (of course) and our visit to the village of Ghandruk. The teahouses were a mixed bag, as expected. We always had a private bathroom (with western toilets), wifi (although it was slow and intermittent), and plugs for charging. Not all had hot water. We didn’t realize that the trekking route took us past many small villages, so we were never far from a water resupply or a toilet (although these were mostly eastern style “squatters”).
After the trek, we spent another night in the same hotel in Pokhara and then got a private driver to take us over the awful roads to Chitwan. At the Rainforest Hotel, we were met by our guide Raj. In the next day and a half, Raj took us into the park 4 times, for two hikes, a dugout canoe ride, and a jeep safari. We did not want to take the elephant ride. Raj is an outstanding naturalist – he knows about the flora and fauna and has an uncanny ability to spot wildlife. We saw several rhinos, both in the water and on land, crocodiles, several types of deer, and dozens of interesting birds. On one hike, we saw fresh Bengal tiger footprints, but didn’t see the tiger itself.
We got a private vehicle back to Kathmandu, where we stayed for one more night at the Everest Boutique Hotel, before taking a late night flight back home.
Our one criticism is something that was out of Mountain Mart’s control, but we do wish we had known in advance. The roads connecting Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan are awful – long unpaved sections and construction delays, as well as a free-for-all when there is congestion. Journeys of less than 100 miles can take over 6 hours. The trip included transfers on the “tourist” bus, but this would have taken even longer. On the morning we transferred to Pokhara, Dolakh advised us to fly, as the rains made the roads nearly impassable. We also opted for 6-hour private car service on the next two legs, rather than an 8-9 hour tourist bus. These were our choices and overall ground costs of the trip were otherwise reasonable, so we felt we could afford this. But overall, it did add an additional $450 expense that we didn’t anticipate.

Trek was excellent, our guide Nabin was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We spent an enjoyable week with him and appreciated his efforts to ensure our trek went smoothly and successfully. I would recommend asking for Nabin as a guide.
We also organised other activities around the trek (paragliding, rafting). We asked for particular companies who were recommended for safety and for access to particular rapids and were told this was organised and given paperwork for the chosen companies.
Instead at the last minute we were taken to different companies which, on later investigation, we discovered were cheaper.
The same situation occurred when travelling in cars or buses. What was written on the paperwork did not match the low standard of transportation.

We have booked the trek with Mountain Mart Trecks and had very good first contact with them over internet. We did a quick induction at Kathmandu and have been introduced to our guide Sudip! He was very kind, knowledgeable and had good English during all our 4 days trek, helping us and making sure we had the best guesthouse/hotel and indicate us the options available to thoroughly enjoy.
The gear provided was really good quality, so just request them to provide what you need and do not bother to buy it. We had hesitation to bring some equipment but decided to bring the minimum, the rest being provided by them :-). Everything was carried by our porter, Parkas who was also awesome all the way.
Highly recommend to book with them, just ask them what is available!

Professional helicopter rescue companies in Nepal operate efficiently in the Annapurna region to ensure quick and reliable emergency support.
Although this is considered one of the best short treks in Nepal, the route still includes:
Steep stone stair climbs
Forest trails and uneven terrain
Changing Himalayan weather conditions
Remote villages with limited medical access
Travel insurance with emergency evacuation coverage provides:
✔️ Financial protection
✔️ Immediate medical assistance
✔️ Peace of mind
✔️ Safe and responsible trekking
Being insured ensures that you can fully enjoy the panoramic views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, and Hiunchuli without unnecessary risk.
✔️ Carry both digital and printed copies of your insurance policy
✔️ Check altitude limits and confirm trekking activity coverage
✔️ Share insurance details with your trekking agency before departure
✔️ Hire a licensed and experienced trekking guide
✔️ Stay hydrated and follow gradual walking pace
✔️ Monitor your health and inform your guide about any discomfort
The Annapurna Panorama Trek is perfect for beginners, families, and travelers with limited time who want a short Himalayan trekking experience. While it is less demanding than high-altitude expeditions, proper insurance, rescue planning, and safety awareness are essential for a smooth and enjoyable journey.
Choosing the right insurance, rescue, and evacuation plan guarantees a safe, comfortable, and unforgettable Himalayan adventure.
For a professional, safe, and well-organized trekking experience in Nepal, always travel prepared and insured with Mountain Mart Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd.
Ltd.

✔️ Deep knowledge of Gurung culture and local traditions
✔️ Assistance in case of minor injuries or altitude discomfort
✔️ Weather updates and proper daily planning
✔️ Emergency coordination if needed

Although the trek is shorter compared to high-altitude expeditions, the long stone stair sections (especially Ulleri area) can be physically demanding. Hiring a porter allows you to enjoy the trek with a light daypack.
Carries up to 20–25 kg (shared between two trekkers)
Reduces physical strain during steep climbs
Conserves your energy for sightseeing and photography
Supports local employment in the Annapurna region
Makes the trek more comfortable for families and beginners
With a porter, you can walk freely, enjoy rhododendron forests, and focus on panoramic Himalayan views without heavy luggage.

Porter: USD 15–20 per day
These costs generally include:
Staff salary

Prices may vary depending on the trekking season, group size, and itinerary length.
